~Being the daughter of Puerto Rican parents, Raqelle began to dance salsa as soon as she could run, but her official training began when she was 7 years old. She studied ballet, tap, hip-hop and gymnastics throughout grade school and high school.
~She began to study bellydance with Katarina Burda for 2.5 years in San Anselmo, Ca. at the age of 19. Her studies continued with Rita Alderucci and John Compton from the Bay Area's renowned bellydance troupe, Hahbi'Ru. ~In 1998 Raqelle journeyed to Burning Man Festival where she learned to how to fire dance. Like a fire fly, Raqelle became magnetically drawn to fire dancing. She learned how to dance with poi, staff, fire fans & fire fingers. In addition to fire dancing, she learned how to stilt-walk in 2002. ~In 2004 Raqelle began to study Flamenco in the Bay Area with the Virginia Iglesias, and Danica Sena 'La Mora'. In addition to Flamenco, she has also studied Argentine Tango with the renowned instructor, Chelsea Eng, and Modern Jazz with Kristin Williams. ~Since 2001 Raqelle has been performing a fusion of middle eastern, spanish, cirque style burlesque and fire dancing at music concerts, festivals, corporate events and night clubs as a solo artist and with APSARA, a Bay Area fire dance troupe.
